The Diamondbacks have placed left-hander Madison Bumgarner on the 10-day injured list with a mid-back strain, but General Manager Mike Hazen said the team is hopeful Bumgarner will only miss a couple of starts.
Bumgarner tried to pitch through the back issue on Sunday but exited his start against the San Diego Padres after giving up four homers and six runs in just two innings.
Hazen said Bumgarner underwent an MRI and was examined by team physician Dr. Gary Waslewski on Monday.
“Everything looks pretty good,” Hazen said, referring to the MRI results. “It was a good outcome for what we were dealing with.
