Diamondbacks' pitching staff in perpetual flux

Chip Hale spent nearly 11 minutes with the media talking about his team before Monday night’s game against the New York Mets. He easily could have spent double the amount of time just talking about his pitching staff, which once again is going through multiple changes.

Among the latest developments is the demotion of left-hander Patrick Corbin from the starting rotation to the bullpen. Monday would have been the first day Corbin would have been available for relief duty, but Hale said the pitcher is dealing with a balky back, and the team couldn’t use him.

“He threw on flat ground today and felt good,” Hale said, adding it was best to use caution with Corbin.
