Diamondbacks right-hander Mike Leake has a fracture in his left wrist, an injury he hopes won’t keep him from making the Opening Day roster.
Leake, who suffered the injury on a fall at home after chasing one of his dogs, said tests showed evidence that he had reinjured a previous fracture from earlier in his life that had never fully healed.
“There’s not multiple or extraneous damage beyond the old fracture,” Leake said. “The plan is to hopefully heal the old fracture along with the new damage and it should be hopefully smoothed over.”
Leake’s best guess is that the first fracture happened during his childhood.
