When Diamondbacks reliever Matt Reynolds was handed a check from the Topps Company, he tossed it in his locker and didn’t think anything of it. But something occurred to him later: He hadn’t had a baseball card made of him recently. Why would he be receiving a check for $500?
Reynolds eventually figured out what had happened: The check was meant for baseball’s other Matt Reynolds, a shortstop in the New York Mets organization, and he came to the realization he should probably get the check in the right hands.
“It was kind of a moral dilemma,” Reynolds said with a smile.
