LOS ANGELES – Back at Dodger Stadium for the first time since May, Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo readily acknowledges how different his opponent is for this weekend’s four-game series than it was back then.
“I think they’ve got, really, three new players,” Lovullo said. “There’s Manny Machado, Brian Dozier and also Justin Turner because Turner was out and trying to come back from an injury in spring training. We know they’re very offensive. They’re capable of special things.”
After the clubs split a two-game set on May 8-9, the Dodgers were just 16-20. They proceeded to lose the next six games, falling to 16-26, the worst start in the franchise’s 60 years in Los Angeles.
