The Diamondbacks lost their first game of the season on the basis of two swings by Charlie Blackmon. Each produced a towering, solo home run. That was all the Colorado Rockies needed to come away with a sweep-averting, 2-1 win at Chase Field on Saturday evening.
But it was hard for the Diamondbacks to call the day a disappointment. Not with the way right-hander Zack Greinke pitched. Not after the spring he endured, the concerns he himself voiced and the level of import he carries to the success of the Diamondbacks’ season.
Greinke looked very much like his usual self on Saturday night.
