Every morning this week, Diamondbacks right-hander Archie Bradley has bounded around Salt River Fields, his signature beard usually framing a full smile. All eyes seem to be on him at all times. That doesn’t figure to change once the season begins, no matter Bradley’s role.
A year ago, the Diamondbacks entered camp with their closer’s job nailed down but nearly every other spot up for grabs in their bullpen. This year, the script has flipped. The closer has yet to be determined, but there might be just one or two jobs open in the bullpen, depending on health and how many relievers the team wants to carry.
