Robbie Ray’s run of dominance has transformed even his superiors into awestruck bystanders, and Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo went so far as to coin a term for the art of witnessing what his left-hander is going to do next: Robbie Watching.
“I’ve become a fan, too,” Lovullo said after Ray’s latest overpowering performance on Sunday, in which he tossed 6 2/3 innings of shutout ball in an 11-1 throttling of the Milwaukee Brewers at Chase Field.
“I’m just watching in amazement at what he can do. He’s basically said, ‘Boys, get on my back and let’s go to work.
