Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo believes the club might have “dodged a bullet” when it comes to Ketel Marte’s leg injury, saying the injury appears to be minor and suggesting that Marte might be available off the bench Sunday.
Trying to leg out an infield single, Marte went down in a heap after crossing first base in the seventh inning on Saturday night. Marte was limping and holding his right hamstring as he crossed the bag.
Lovullo said the team’s medical staff believes Marte suffered only a cramp. Marte is not scheduled to undergo an MRI, Lovullo said.
