After the All-Star Game, meaningful baseball recommences, with the Diamondbacks seeking to retain the good momentum they had going into the break. Arizona has not lost a series since June 27th, when they dropped the rubber game against the Twins at Chase Field, going 4-0-1 since then. As a result, they find themselves a game back of the Mets for the final wild-card spot, and very much with everything to play for. Currently covered by a span of two games are the Cardinals, Mets, D-backs, Padres and Pirates. A streak, good or bad, could add other teams in, but for now, it seems those are the five teams competing for the second and third spots.
