The White Sox arrive at Chase Field with the worst record in baseball, and it’s not particularly close. They are currently sitting at 18-52, which is already six games worse than the 29th-best Miami Marlins. Chicago’s win percentage of .257 through 70 games has not been “worsened” (I guess that’s the opposite of bettered?) in the majors for over fifty years, since the 1982 Twins started the year off 16-54. Their record currently matches that of the 2003 Tigers, who went on to a final record of 119 losses. That is still an all-time American League record, and has been surpassed only by the 1962 Mets (120) and the 1899 Cleveland Spiders (134).
