It’s kinda startling to realize that it is now more than five and a half years since Paul Goldschmidt last came to the plate as an Arizona Diamondback. It was on September 30th, 2018 in San Diego, so he didn’t even get the benefit of a home curtain call. It came leading off the top of the seventh inning, and though he got a single, it was hardly highlight-worthy. A 76.1 mph pop-up, with an expected batting average of .070. He was replaced at 1B by Daniel Descalso for the bottom half, and that was the end of the Goldschmidt era.
