The D-backs phenomenal form over the past couple of months put them in a rather luxurious position at this point. While it would be nice to continue to push towards the divisional title, the reality is that, in terms of making the playoffs as a whole, they simply need to avoid sucking the rest of the way. They are seven games up on the first non-wild card team, who happen to be these Mets, with 31 left to play. Even losing the series would not be disastrous, as long as the D-backs take at least one game.
