Diamondbacks left-hander Robbie Ray has had no trouble making the 3-0 lead his offense gave him stand up so far at Miller Park.
Ray has thrown five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits, holding in check one of baseball’s more potent lineups.
The only threat the Brewers mounted was in the second, when they put runners on first and third with two out, but they promptly ran their way out of it, with Keon Broxton out on a pickoff/caught stealing when he took off too early from first base.
Solo homers stake D-Backs to early lead
Gregor Blanco led off the game by homering on the second pitch he saw, and Chris Owings added a solo homer of his own in the second inning, allowing the Diamondbacks to jump to a quick 2-0 lead.
