For the fifth consecutive weekend, center fielder A.J. Pollock found himself getting a day off from the Diamondbacks lineup, with Gregor Blanco getting the start in center field on Sunday afternoon.
Manager Torey Lovullo says he’s targeting somewhere between 130-140 games for Pollock this season, though he might be willing to bend if the club is in the hunt late in the summer. For his part, Pollock had no complaints about Lovullo’s plan.
“He wants everything to be geared toward peaking at the end of the year,” Pollock said. “If that’s what he thinks is the right thing, I’m not really going to try to second-guess anything he’s doing.
