Diamondbacks' Fernando Rodney blows save as Padres come back to win

Ryan Schimpf blasted a three-run home run off Fernando Rodney in the ninth inning and Yangervis Solarte added a two-run double off the right-hander, giving the Padres an 8-5 comeback victory over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday night.

Rodney entered the game with a 5-3 lead after the Diamondbacks had scored five times off of former Arizona pitcher Trevor Cahill. Paul Goldschmidt went 3 for 4 and drove in three runs and David Peralta went 2 for 2 and reached base safely five times. A.J. Pollock added three hits and scored two runs.

Right-hander Zack Godley, starting for the injured Shelby Miller, tossed five innings and allowed two earned runs on four hits with three walks and six strikeouts.
