The Diamondbacks rallied once but not twice, getting tripped up 7-3 by the Tigers on Tuesday at Chase Field to suffer their third straight loss – which ties their longest skid of the season.
Arizona overcame an early two-run deficit, scoring three times in the third to go up 3-2. First baseman Paul Goldschmidt had an RBI single and then scored on a close play at home after a base hit from left fielder Yasmany Tomas before second baseman Brandon Drury doubled in Tomas.
But the Tigers turned in their own three-run inning in the fifth to surge ahead.
