The Diamondbacks have extended the contract of Chip Hale through at least next season, providing added security to their second-year manager, a source confirmed Thursday.
Hale, who went 78-84 in his first year on the job last season, was entering the second year of a two-year contract that included a club option for 2017.

A club source would not elaborate other than to say Hale was under contract beyond 2016.
