With little in the way of certainty at the top of the draft, the Diamondbacks likely won’t have a firm sense of who their pick will be at No. 6 overall on Sunday until not long before the selection itself.
The industry does not seem to agree on a clear-cut No. 1 overall talent, and Diamondbacks scouting director Deric Ladnier said the uncertainty extends further down the board.
“It's just not that consensus person that somebody says, ‘OK, they’re definitely taking this guy, and if that guy goes first, this guy’s going second,’” Ladnier said. “I think there's a blend of all of those guys, where everybody likes all of the players that are up there.
