Diamondbacks employing more two-seam fastballs

Not so long ago, back when the Diamondbacks rotation was flirting with a no-hitter every outing against the San Francisco Giants, there seemed to be a common denominator to that success. The starters were having tremendous results with the two-seam fastball.

Right-hander Chase Anderson threw it 25 percent of the time against San Francisco and didn't allow a hit with it. A night later, righty Allen Webster was called up from Triple-A and pumped two-seamers for almost half his pitches, the Giants hitting just .100 against them.

To close out the series, righty Rubby De La Rosa threw the pitch 30 percent of the time — his highest ratio of the season — and held San Francisco to a .
