Diamondbacks right-hander Yoan Lopez did not have an explanation. There might not be one. Baseball is a game that abounds in the inexplicable, and what has happened in Lopez’s brief career against the Atlanta Braves probably falls into that category.
Facing the Braves in the eighth inning on Friday night, Lopez served up the tie-breaking homer to Ronald Acuna Jr., a blast that sent the Diamondbacks to a 2-1 loss at Chase Field. Lopez had easily retired the first two batters of the inning before falling behind in the count to Acuna, leaving a fastball over the plate and summarily paying the price.
