Left fielder David Peralta said he wasn’t criticizing anyone in particular when he passionately addressed his teammates in the dugout on Wednesday. Instead, he felt the time was right to speak up after his team committed another mistake in the field.
“I felt when I got to the dugout, I had to say something,” Peralta said. “I’m not the guy who says too much stuff that way, but I felt like it was the right time and I came out and said it without disrespect to anyone. Just as a team leader.”
In the top of the fifth, a pop fly dropped between second baseman Josh VanMeter and right fielder Josh Reddick.
