The Diamondbacks lost right fielder Steve Souza Jr. toward the end of spring training when he stretched out, diving to try to catch a tailing line drive. They lost third baseman Jake Lamb a week into the season when he stretched and dived to snare a difficult pop foul.
And now they’ve lost center fielder A.J. Pollock after he stretched out, diving to try to snag a fly ball during Monday’s loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. Pollock rolled his glove hand awkwardly during the attempt and on Tuesday, he was placed on the disabled list with an avulsion fracture in his left thumb.
