Diamondbacks fans don’t have a lot to complain about these days. Entering play Thursday, Arizona was tied for the second-most wins (12) and held the second-best winning percentage (.706) in the National league even despite significant injuries.
Still, if there was one thing to gripe with, it would likely be catcher Alex Avila.
Avila, who signed a free-agent deal with Arizona in January, has gotten off to an ice-cold start in his first Diamondbacks campaign. The 31-year-old backstop entered Thursday hitting just .125 and has struck out 16 times in 38 plate appearances.
He was also at the core of Deven Marrero's almost-homer in Los Angeles last week.
