Diamondbacks bringing back Yasmany Tomas for series in Miami

Yasmany Tomas, who more than two years ago found himself out of the major leagues and subsequently off the Diamondbacks' 40-man roster, is about to get a long-awaited second chance.

Tomas will rejoin the club in Miami when Arizona opens a four-game series against the Marlins on Friday, a team source told the Arizona Republic. A possible factor in this decision is that the Diamondbacks will follow the Miami series with two games against the Yankees and will need options for designated hitter.

A native of Cuba who signed a six-year, $68.5 million contract with the Diamondbacks in December of 2014, Tomas had one strong season in Arizona, belting 30 doubles and 31 home runs with 83 RBIs and a .
