The Diamondbacks welcomed a familiar face back into their clubhouse on Friday morning. Left-hander Jorge De La Rosa surprised teammates at the facility around 8:15 a.m., and about an hour later, the club announced it had signed him to a minor-league deal.
De La Rosa came to camp a year ago on a minor-league pact and wound up not only making the Opening Day roster, but spending the entire season with the Diamondbacks, posting a 4.21 ERA in 65 appearances.
He wound up filling an important role in manager Torey Lovullo’s bullpen as a left-handed specialist, making 15 appearances in which he faced just one batter.
