The Diamondbacks enter the offseason with a variety of areas in which they could upgrade their team but with only a handful of actual holes on the roster. Next winter shapes up to be entirely different, and General Manager Mike Hazen says it is something he will remain cognizant of as he works his way through the winter.
“Having some eye to 2021 is part of what we’re calculating now,” he said. “Those decisions at the sole expense of 2020? No.”
The Diamondbacks have seven potentially significant contributors slated to go through their final season of arbitration eligibility next year: starters Robbie Ray and Taijuan Walker, outfielders David Peralta and Steven Souza Jr.
