The Diamondbacks selected the contract of Josh Reddick from Triple-A Reno on Thursday, adding a veteran corner outfielder who provides another option to help lift a sagging offense.
To create room, the club designated right-hander Yoan Lopez for assignment, potentially cutting ties with a reliever who had a turbulent — and costly — tenure with the organization.
Reddick, 34, is a career .263/.322/.428 hitter in parts of 12 seasons in the minors. He spent the past four seasons with the Houston Astros, helping them win a World Series title in 2017 that has since been tarnished by a sign-stealing scandal.
