The Diamondbacks recalled hot-hitting outfielder Stuart Fairchild to the majors on Tuesday, giving them another right-handed option on a roster that has skewed heavily left-handed in recent weeks.
Fairchild was hitting .328/.411/.672 for Triple-A Reno. He has been red hot since coming back from a left hamstring injury last month, going 11 for 26 (.423) with five homers since being reinstated from the injured list.
Fairchild’s promotion means every position player on the Diamondbacks’ 40-man roster has been in the majors at some point this season, a fact that speaks to the issues the club has dealt with on the injury front.
