So one night after snatching defeat from the jaws of victory from the jaws of defeat last night, we had another shot to beat the San Diego Padres in their house, this time with Brandon Pfaadt leading the charge for us and going up against Padres knuckleballer Matt Waldron.
Waldron sat down the top of our order (a somewhat unusual lineup sequence of Corbin Carroll, Geraldo Perdomo, and Joc Pederson) on fourteen pitches, so that was disappointing.
Pfaadt, meanwhile looked sharp tonight, and in fact pretty damn excellent, despite falling briefly behind in the bottom of the first on three dinky soft-contact singles and a looking strikeout to the first four batters he faced.
