It was the Yankees who got on the board first, Starlin Castro murdering a hanging pitch from Zack Greinke to give the visitors a 1-0 lead in the second. However, Greinke settled down thereafter and that was the only runs he allowed before leaving the game after allowing the first two to reach in the eighth inning. Both of those men came around to score, but Greinke worked seven innings, allowing five hits and no walks with seven strikeouts. Daniel Hudson took over in the eighth, and did allow an RBI groundout and RBI single, but then got consecutive strikeouts to keep Arizona in the lead.
