Diamondbacks 5, Mets 7

Braden Shipley wasn’t able to reproduce his success last week against the Mets, but Mitch Haniger made a good first impression in his MLB debut.

After the teams traded zeroes through three innings, the D-backs got on the board first, with Yasmany Tomas’s 23rd home-run of the year in the fourth. Unfortunately, Braden Shipley was unable to deliver a shutdown inning, allowing four runs in the fifth, including a two-run homer to the opposing pitcher, Noah Syndergaard. The Mets added three more in the sixth for a 7-1 lead, and Shipley’s night was done after 5.2 innings, allowing six earned runs on 10 hits and a walk, without a strikeout.
