So for the third Saturday in a row, Zac Gallen was on the mound for us in Boston this afternoon. While we’re 2-1 in those games, I have to admit that I don’t really have a good feeling when our putative “ace” takes the mound these days. He entered today rocking an 5.51 ERA through three starts in August, which is, well, not good. His opposite number today was one Kutter Crawford, whose August numbers (8.25 ERA in four starts this month) and whose distinction entering today as the pitcher who has surrendered the most home runs in 2024, gave me a reasonable amount of hope.
