I’m not quite sure what the point of this is, but it feels like MLB are announcing the schedules earlier and earlier over the past few season. Though I guess this is actually a few days later than it was last year, when the 2024 schedule was announced on July 13. Checking for announcements, I see the 2022 schedule came out in early August 2021, and the previous year, it was July 9th. So it isn’t particularly new. Maybe my memory is playing tricks, but I vaguely recall this used to be an off-season thing. It seems almost disrespectful to the current season, to be promoting next year, when this one still has three and a half months left to run.
