In the first two games of the series, both teams had combined to give up a total of eleven runs in the first two games of this series, off of pitchers that range from typically very good to future Hall of Famers, making the first inning this afternoon of particular interest to everyone involved. Brandon Pfaadt took the mound for the Diamondbacks, and, like usual, had to face three straight previous MVPs and future Hall of Famers to lead off the game in Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman.
Admittedly after how previous games had started, and Pfaadt’s propensity to give up home runs, this writer had some slight anxiety about it, but Pfaadt rose to the moment as he has done so many times.
