Diamondbacks 13, Pirates 8: Six run first isn’t enough, but Dbacks win anyway because baseball is funny like that

The Pirates put together a threat right at the start in the first inning. With one out, Corey Dickerson singled, Starling Marte doubled, and Colin Moran walked to load the bases. However, Clay Buchholz got Elias Diaz to ground into double play, ending the inning with the score still at zero.

It wouldn’t remain there for long. Jon Jay lead off the bottom of the inning with his first hit as a Diamondback, a single. Paul Goldschmidt singled as well. A botched force attempt off the bat of Jake Lamb allowed him to reach and Jay to score.
