This looked like it was going to a tough one for the Diamondbacks, with Zac Gallen facing off against Aaron Nola with our first chance to secure at least a series tie on the line. Gallen’s control was off again, as we’ve sadly come to expect in all of his starts since the start of July. He needed 26 pitches to get through the top of the first, and left the ballgame with one out in the fifth with an apparent groin strain. We also lost Ketel Marte early after a Philadelphia backup catcher Garrett Stubbs collided with him on a hard slide into second base and resulted in what was later reported as an ankle contusion.
