PHOENIX -- The D-backs hoped that the energy and good feelings from Wednesday night's win over the Cubs would carry over to Friday night's series opener against the Rockies.
And when Arizona struck for two first-inning runs, it looked like it just might.
However, the offense went quiet after that and the Rockies chipped away at the lead before putting together a decisive four-run rally in the eighth as they rolled to a 6-2 win at Chase Field.
With the loss, the D-backs dropped six games back in the hunt for the final National League Wild Card berth and they will remain at least six games behind the first-place Dodgers in the NL West pending the outcome of their game with the Padres.
