After taking on the Washington Nationals and completing just their 2nd sweep of the entire season, the Diamondbacks took a trip to the Steel City to take on the Pittsburgh Pirates for the 2nd time in the last week. This would once again be a very important series for both teams, as they are equally in the NL Wild Card hunt and desperate to continue to gain ground on the teams ahead of them.
Before the series even got underway on Friday night, In a move that surprised the crew a little bit but wasn’t too unexpected, Torey Lovullo announced that Paul Sewald would be relieved of his closing duties, but didn’t have a set person to fully fill in that role going forward.
