It feels like it’s the closer role that is cursed and not specific pitchers for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Wednesday night, the Dimondbacks had a chance to get a big win to avoid being swept and a chance to grab some momentum as they head into Milwaukee to take on the Brewers.
Instead, Brad Ziegler blew the save and the Arizona Diamondbacks got swept out of St. Louis.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Diamondbacks brought in a five-man infield, and what looked like was going to be a double play to end the inning was broken up by Peter Bourjos as he took out the catcher Jordan Pacheco with a hard slide.
