The Dbacks got their 7-game road trip off to a rough start as they were defeated by the Phillies 4-3. What started as a harmless pitcher’s duel soon turned into a battle of the bullpens. A battle in which the Arizona contingent was unable to win. Both teams surrendered late inning leads, but it was Philadelphia that ended up on top.
The first 5 innings saw the Dbacks and Phillies exchange offensive threats, none of which were successful. Chase Anderson and Chad Billingsley both fought off all situations, but in doing so they accelerated their pitch counts.
