Tom Candiotti once made the comment on a radio broadcast that the most important part of being an ace was going out when your team was on a losing streak and ending it. That's exactly what Zach Grienke did tonight. He went out and pitched 6 and 2/3 innings, holding the Cardinals to just two runs, on seven hits and two walks, with four strikeouts.
The good pitching didn't end after Grienke left the game. De La Rosa, Hirano, Bradley, and Boxberger finished the game off, keeping the Cards scoreless, and only giving up two hits.
The offense was as usual powered by Paul Goldschmidt.
