Nearly a decade ago, David Peralta was working at McDonald’s. He ran the register at the counter, worked the drive-thru, cooked the fries. This was back when he was toiling away in the independent leagues. He needed gas money to keep his dream alive of playing major league baseball.
On Monday, he finalized a three-year, $22 million extension with the Diamondbacks. He has not forgotten his origin story.
“It’s a lot of emotion that comes to me,” Peralta said on a conference call. “It’s not just me that did it. I had support from my family. My mom, my dad, my wife.
