It took a lot longer than anyone though, negotiations going right down to the wire, but the Diamondbacks have officially signed their first-round pick, and #1 overall selection in the 2015 June draft, shortstop Dansby Swanson. Discussions were initially delayed because of his presence in Vanderbilt's team which played in the College World Series, losing in the final to Virginia. But even after that was completed, negotiations with Swanson seemed to take a great deal longer than expected. However, with just two minutes before the signing deadline of 2pm Arizona time, the first word came through:
