BALTIMORE – Zack Greinke’s final two starts are up in the air after the Diamondbacks right-hander experienced shoulder stiffness following his outing on Wednesday night against the San Diego Padres.
Greinke did not accompany the team to Baltimore and instead returned to Phoenix, where he was scheduled to undergo an MRI on Friday, manager Chip Hale said, adding that Greinke felt better on Friday than he did after the game on Wednesday.
There were no obvious signs Greinke was in discomfort against the Padres, whom he held to two runs in six innings. His velocity was in its normal range and he did not leave early, throwing 107 pitches.
