D-backs reinstate Jarrod Saltalamacchia, option Dominic Leone

The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia from the 15-day disabled list (strained left neck), as announced by D-backs Sr. Vice President & General Manager Dave Stewart. In addition, the D-backs optioned right-handed pitcher Dominic Leone to Double-A Mobile following yesterday’s game.

Saltalamacchia, 30, has appeared in 20 games with Arizona this season and is hitting .213 (13-for-61) with 1 homer and 4 RBI. He was batting .318 (7-for-22) with 3 doubles, 1 RBI and 4 walks in his last 8 games prior to the injury. Saltalamacchia was signed by the D-backs as a Minor League free agent on May 7, and promoted to Arizona on May 29.
