Chris Owings’ foot discomfort did not clear up as quickly as hoped, and the Diamondbacks placed their versatile infielder/outfielder on the disabled list, clearing a roster spot for right-hander Zack Godley, who started Saturday night against the Miami Marlins.
Owings has been dealing with plantar fasciitis in both feet, the same issue that wiped out much of his 2010 season in the minor leagues.
When he tested it out on the field prior to Friday’s game, the hope was that he would feel good enough to be a candidate to return to the lineup on Saturday.
“(We were) hoping it would turn a corner, but it kind of stayed the same,” Owings said.
