D-backs option Miller to Triple-A Reno

The D-backs announced Thursday that they have optioned right-hander Shelby Miller to Triple-A Reno. A corresponding roster move will be made Friday.

Arizona acquired Miller in a trade with the Braves that sent 2015 No. 1 overall Draft pick Dansby Swanson to Atlanta along with outfielder Ender Inciarte and right-hander Aaron Blair. Miller, 25, is 2-9 with a 7.14 ERA this season after posting a 3.33 ERA in three seasons with the Cardinals and a 3.02 ERA in an All-Star campaign for the Braves in 2015.

In an April 16 start against the Padres in San Diego, Miller hit his index finger on the mound during his follow-through twice, and he had to leave the game in the second inning.
