After posting one of the worst halves by a starting pitcher in franchise history, right-hander Shelby Miller was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Thursday, capping what has been a disastrous series of events for a Diamondbacks team that paid handsomely to acquire him in December.
Miller did not seem to think going to the minors was the best course of action to get back on track, but he also did not blame the club for the decision.
“I saw it coming,” Miller said. “I have a 7.14 ERA. It’s not like I’m pitching great. … Obviously I was kind of struggling up here for a while.
