For Evan Marshall, the sky is bluer, food tastes better and baseball is more enjoyable. The past six months haven’t been easy – they were terrifying at first, then painful and tedious, with progress marked by painstakingly small steps – but he wonders about something after a near-death experience last year.
He wonders if the line drive that struck him in the head might have been a sort of blessing in disguise.
“Maybe all that had to happen for me to come out and be motivated and make the team this year,” he said. “Get in the best shape I’ve ever been in and get back to having fun in baseball.
